ADVERTISEMENTS:
The upcoming discussion will update you about the difference between Coelom and Pseduocoelom.
Difference # Coelom:
1. Fluid filled perivisceral cavity of most triploblastic animals (e.g., most annelids, echinoderms and vertebrates), situated between the body wall and gut. In arthropods and molluscs, it is not the perivisceral cavity; it forms the cavity of excretory organs and gonads and acts as haemocoel.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
2. Coelom or true body cavity develops from the splitting of embryonic mesoderm or coelomic cavity formed from the out- pocketing of the embryonic archenteron.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
3. Coelomic cavity is lined by coelomic epithelium, derived from the embryonic mesoderm.
4. It has a relation with the excretory and reproductive organs.
5. Coelomic fluid contains coelomocytes.
Examples:
ADVERTISEMENTS:
Mollusca, Annelida, Sipuncula, Echiura, Arthropoda, Onychophora, Tardigrada, Echinodermata, Hemichordata and Chordata.
Difference # Pseudocoelom:
1. Fluid filled extracellular body cavity of some triploblastic animals, occupies between the body wall and the intestine.
2. Pseudocoelom or flase body cavity is the remnant of the embryonic blastocoel.
3. It is lined by the endodermal epithelium, not lined by coelomic epithelium.
4. It has no relation with the excretory and reproductive organs.
5. Pseudocoelomic fluid contains pseudocoelomocytes.
Examples:
Nematoda, Nematomorpha, Acanthocephala, Rotifera, Kinorhyncha.
