TRANSGENIC BACTERIA ARE OTHERWISE CALLED GENETICALLY MODIFIED BACTERIA. THEY CONTAIN A NOVEL GENE FROM OTHER SOURCE WHICH BECOMES PART OF THEIR NATIVE GENOME ARCHITECTURE OR AS TRANSIENT GENE MAINTAINED ON PLASMIDS.
TRANGENESIS IN BACTERIA CAN EITHER BE NATURAL OR LABORATORY MADE.
EVOLUTIONARILY SPEAKING FOR EXAMPLE, Escherichia sps are all natural transgenic bacteria, due to the fact that bacteria can undergo transformation by picking up any available DNA in its sorrounding and this is seen when comparing strains of Ecoli such 015:H7 strain (it contains pathogenic gene which is its virulence factor) as compared to some other strains of Ecoli which are non pathogenic.
laboratory made trangenic bateria is E coli BL21 (DE3), this bacteria is genetically modified to carry out gene expression at a very high rate while E coli BL21 is genetically modified to only amplify a cloned gene at a faster rate.
transgenic bacteria are those bacteria whose genetic material has been altered. Their genetic material (i.e. DNA, RNA etc) is different from what it is actually supposed to be. For example: Superbug (Pseudomonas putida)
Transgenic bacterias are those bacteria in which foreign genes have been introduced eg.E.coli
Bacteria which are modified in laboratory for experimental use,are called transgenic bacterias. There are modifications in their plasmid, plasmid can contain foreign DNA, and therefore it’s highly used in biotechnology and molecular biology labs.
The bacteria with foreign genes are called transgenic bacteria.
Transgenic bacteria contains foreign gene which is inserted into the genome of that bacteria….. The insertion usually is done through a plasmid (it is a self replicating part which undergo replication when introduce d into other organism) eg BT bacillus thurigness…
Genetically modified bacteria are called transgenic bacteria.it contains foreign genes which is intentionally included in it’s genome.exampl is E.coli
example, “knock-out” mice are transgenic mice that have a particular gene of interest disabled.
Thanks, Devansh for A2A,
Transgenic or genetically modified.
Transgenic bacteria are the bacteria which contains the foreign gene of interest in their genome.
Because this process involves the transfer of genes, GMOs are also known as “transgenic” organisms.
The most common example of transgenic bacteria is E.coli. modified to produce synthetic human insulin.
