They are lignified,extremely thick walled so that the lumen of the cells is almost obliterated and may be spherical, oval, cylindrical,T shaped and even stellate. They are generally found in hard parts of plants.e.g.,indication of walnut and coconut.They provides mechanical support to soft plants.
